Whether you realize it or not, food is a powerful drug. Luckily for us, the biochemical processing plant we have within us is just as powerful. Theoretically it's perhaps possible to eat or drink anything without any adverse consequences, but most of us aren't there yet. So in the meantime, you might want to check out some of the following information and resources. Sugar is one of the most influential substances with some really challenging side effects, especially if you're diabetic. Luckily, you don't have to give up the sweet taste or ingest toxic substances (aspartame, etc.) to keep your blood sugar balanced. Try xylitol. It's actually even low calorie and really good for your teeth!Inflammation, whether it's in joints or tissues is actually one of the leading contributors to pain. Dr. Barry Sears has done a lot of research in this area and has some products that may help. Specifically you may want to check out his diet and the fish oil supplements. If you'd like to explore exercise, there are a couple options that you may not have looked at yet. One is an accepted training method for athletes who want to improve performance, but which applies eqally well for non-athletes who want to increase metabolism, tone up, lose weight, and shorten their workouts...check out the PACE program developed by Al Sears, MD. Another is sometimes referred to as the Five Rites. Supposedly developed by the monks in Tibet and reportedly acting as a "Fountain of Youth", it is a simple set of 5 exercises that are quick and easy to do, feel great, and move your energy (amongst other things!).If you're struggling with your weight and just don't seem to be able to get it off or keep it off, you may find the assistance you need through alkalizing your system. A terrific woman we know may be able to help you...check out Dawn Sanders, "The Detox Diet Diva."
