4. How long is a typical session?
Most sessions for adults are 1.5 hours, with the first session at least that in order to allow time to clarify issues and to set objectives for our work together. Children generally require shorter sessions of 30-45 minutes, unless we will be working with the parent as well, in which case, 1.5 hours would be appropriate.

5. How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different...for example, some clients have found relief from a headache in as little as 5 minutes, while for others it has taken multiple sessions. It depends on the following factors:
- how deep seated the issue is (almost forming a part of your identity...you believe it's just the way it is and won't change),
- how much attachment you have to the issue (are there benefits to you in keeping the problem?, like if you keep the back pain, you can stay on disability or get attention from your spouse),
- whether or not you are willing to explore and shift your perspective about it (do you feel righteous or empowered in your point of view and don't want to let it go?),
- and how commited you are to changing (like following your coach's suggestions and/or working between sessions).

6. What do we do in a session?
Our coaches can draw on a number of tools, techniques, and processes to help you to energetically and mentally shift your perspective, make headway towards a new goal, and/or resolve your issues. Depending on the nature of the issue and/or any client preferences, we can provide EFT, RET, "The Work" by Byron Katie, Touch for Health, and Body Electronics to name a few. All of these options are designed to provide the client with a safe, quick and lasting resolution to their issues.
If you are conducting your session by phone, some of the body centered approaches won't be available, but rest assured that the other tools are more than capable of soothing whatever body issues you may be having. Then your coach will call you at the time of your appointment and set up the recording (which takes about a minute), and then you will review your issue(s) and any forms you may have sent ahead, and then the session will be conducted utilizing whatever tools are agreed upon or appropriate. Within 1 business day of your appointment, you will receive the audio recording of your phone session.

7. I don't live in Austin. Can I work with you by phone?
Many of the tools and processes we offer can be effectively delivered by phone, and many clients enjoy the convenience of receiving their sessions in the comfort of their home. The only exceptions are some RET sessions, which require specific eye movements to be monitored by the coach, and some of the body oriented therapies, like Touch for Health or Iridology. In these cases, if a client lives far from Austin, either the client books an intensive set of many sessions back to back generally over a 2 day period (while staying in a local hotel, or in some instances the coach comes to the client), or for cases where this direct contact is only needed for one or two sessions of RET, another provider in the client's area is contacted to perform that specific work.

8. What forms of payment do you take?
For phone appointments, Paypal (which will provide you with check, debit or credit card options), or if you are seeing us personally, cash or Paypal.

9. What are your office hours?
Generally, weekday appointment hours are between 12-7pm and weekends from 10-3pm, but occasionally we can accomodate other times.

10. Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my session?
There are at least three things you can do to prepare; any others will be discussed with you by your coach prior to your appointment (perhaps special supplements or dietary modifications). The first and most important thing you can do, is drink plenty of water. Dehydration impedes the flow of energy in our bio-electrical system and is, therefore, often a factor when issues aren't resolving quickly. Second, take the time to fill out the "What Is "It"? Worksheet or a Byron Katie Worksheet, and/or reflect on the issue you'd like to work on during your session. If you complete the Online "What Is "It"? Worksheet and/or the Online "Judge Your Neighbor" Worksheet, your coach will be able to review your issue before your session, thereby making your call/appointment time more efficient. Remember that the clearer you are and the more contemplation/insights you have available ahead of time, the better, because we can then move more quickly to resolve the issue. The third thing you can do to prepare is to eat lightly, if at all, before your session. The goal is to have your energy available for the coaching session, rather than all tied up digesting a big meal. You don't need to fast (that may be counter-productive, in fact), just don't stuff yourself or overstimulate yourself with caffeine and sugar.
If you will be conducting your session by phone, it is strongly recommended that you have either a speaker phone or a hands free headset. This arrangement will allow you to use your hands and arms for tapping and will reduce the stress of trying to hold the phone for a long period while tapping. You needn't take notes during phone sessions, as we will record them for you and send you a link by email.

11. I'm a new client...where do I find the New Client Forms?
If you are a new client and haven't done so already, please complete our New Client Form. You may also want to complete the Online "What Is "It"? Worksheet and/or the Online "Judge Your Neighbor" Worksheet prior to your appointment. If you want copies of these worksheets to use at home on your own, click here: Links or see item #10 above.

12. What are "Intensives"?
Intensives are either group or individual events wherein the participant(s) get to work for long, uninterrupted periods in a relaxing setting with a coach. By immersing yourself in this type of healing environment, we find that rapid progress is made in resolving even some of the most stubborn or chronic issues. Even in the group programs, since the number of participants is limited to 10, you will still receive a lot of personal coaching over the four days, in addition to "borrowing benefits" as you work with other participants. You also have the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and enjoy the tranquil spa surroundings and Texas Hill Country hospitality.

13. What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
For individual sessions, we recognize that everyone's time is precious in our fast paced world, and that's why we are committed to keeping our agreements with you regarding your appointment time. We will make ourselves available to work with you during the time alloted. You are responsible for payment for that time slot unless you cancel 24 hours in advance. If you are late for your appointment and we have another client immediately following you, your session time will be shortened (although you will still be responsible for payment for the scheduled time). This is the only equitable solution we have found to honor everyone's agreements.
For group programs, teleseminars and/or intensives, please see the program descriptions (found in "Products") for details about cancellations.

14. Are There Any Side Effects With Energetic Healing?
The only side effects we've noticed over our countless hours of practice with any of our processes are very temporary and not uncomfortable at all. The most common ones are yawning and sighing. Other less common ones include: burping, stretching, hiccuping, weepy eyes, crying (relief), gas, needing to use the bathroom, coughing, feeling spacey, feeling deeply relaxed, feeling exhausted. Whatever of these sensations you notice, they generally resolve themselves by the end of the session or, perhaps after a nap.

15. What If I'm Taking Medications? Should I Stop Taking Them and/or Is It Safe To Work With You?
We are not licensed to practice medicine, so please consult your doctor regarding medications and whether or not you are physically or emotionally capable of working with us. We can tell you, though, that none of our processes involve medications of any kind (although there may be times that common minerals or other food or herbally based nutritional supplements may be beneficial to the work you're doing with us). We've never encountered any adverse reactions to vitamin and mineral supplementation or to the work that we do with our clients. But please tell your coach if you are taking medications and contact your physician if you are interested in taking any nutritional supplements, to ensure that they won't adversely interact with your current medical treatment program.

16. Why Aren't I Having A "One Minute Wonder"?
Everyone wants to experience this, and they do happen frequently. However, more times than not, our issues are complex and inter-related enough that more time, persistence, and investigation is required. If you aren't having a "one minute wonder" it certainly doesn't mean that EFT isn't working for you. Chronic and/or complex cases often take us on an unpredictable path as we explore the labyrinth of your mind. As a matter of fact, you will often notice shifts/results in areas you weren't even consciously working on, as related issues are cleared. If you are reading this, it's probably not the first thing you've tried. If that's the case, how long have you been struggling vs. how long have you been using our processes? We invite you to be patient and gentle with yourself and allow the process to go where it needs to in order to affect a lasting change. None of our processes are "band-aids"...all seek the cause, which may or may not be hidden by you.

18. What is "Borrowing Benefits"?
Borrowing Benefits is a term coined by Gary Craig for a phenomenon he noticed when using EFT in group situations. He noticed that if the audience tapped along with the "client" or participant, using the same words they did, the audience members generally experienced benefits for themselves on their own issues, just as if they had been tapping/working on themselves specifically.

19. What are SUDs (Subjective Units of Distress)?
Subjective Units of Distress is a term coined within EFT to help identify how uncomfortable or painful any given issue is, so that as you work with EFT you can tell if there is any shift. It is a useful testing tool which also helps to identify whether or not there are different aspects which must be worked on in order to completely clear an issue.
